Taylor Swift Has Been Cast In David O. Russell’s Next Movie

You’ve got to hand it to Taylor Swift. Where others might see the reviews from the 2019 flop, Cats, and decide that now was as good a time as any to officially retire from acting, Taylor did not! Those terrible reviews didn’t crush her big-screen dreams, and she’s going to be in another movie. But Taylor will work withDavid O. Russell, a director who has a decent track record of success. David’s reputation for mutual respect, professionalism, and not being an asshole? That’s just a bit spottier.Varietysays that Taylor has been cast in David’s next film. Usually, when David O. Russell needs a tall, conventionally gorgeous, blue-eyed blonde in her early-30s with goofy sleepover energy, he calls up Jennifer Lawrence. But maybe Jennifer Lawrence was ready to pass the on-set screaming match torch to Taylor Swift. Back in 2015, during the filming of David O. Russell’s last film Joy , there were reports that he and JLaw foughton set, and it wasn’t a joy for everyone involved. That same year, David O. Russell gave some patronizing thoughts about JLaw’s wage gap essay, in which she claimed she discovered in the Sony email hack that he had paid her less for American Hustle than her male co-stars.Variety doesn’t have too many more details on this film, except that it’s David’s first film since 2015’s Joy, and that the cast list currently includes Christian Bale, who can clearly hold his own on set when it comes to dramatic freakouts, as well as Margot Robbie, John David Washington, Mike Myers, Anya Taylor-Joy, Rami Malek, and Zoe Saldana.David O. Russell will be directing the film from a script he wrote himself. It hasn’t been confirmed, but internet rumors claim that the film is a period piece about a doctor and a lawyer called Canterbury Glass. I wonder if Taylor will pull double duty on this film, by also serving as historical accuracy supervisor. What is the point of fully dedicating yourself to the dusty old-timey pre-penicillin aesthetic of folklore and evermore if you can’t later put it to good use?Pic: Wenn.comDlisted
