Snoop Dogg has issued an apology to Gayle King on Instagram for calling her a “funky dog-head bitch” and possibly threatening her in the wake of CBS airing a clip of the interview Gayle did with Lisa Leslie, a WNBA star and close friend of the recently deceased Kobe Bryant. Snoop’s initial tirade was directed at both Gayle and her BFF Oprah Winfrey . That caused Oprah to take precious time away from promoting her controversial book club selection to defend Gayle on Today and let us know that Gayle had been receiving death threats over the matter. Happy Black History Month! Thankfully, Snoop has since spoken to his mom and has issued an apology to Gayle. According to Complex:In wake of the post, many people criticized Snoop for his harsh message, which was perceived as both misogynistic and violent. The rapper later claimed he never threatened King, nor did he want her to be harmed–he was just speaking out for everyone who believed her Bryant question was disrespectful. On Wednesday, Snoop posted another video message for King. But this time, he expressed remorse. As far as apologies go, it’s refreshingly thorough. Snoop says :“Two wrongs don’t make no right. When you’re wrong, you gotta fix,” he said in the post. “So with that being said, Gayle King: I publicly tore you down by coming at you in a derogatory manner based off of emotions … me being angry at questions that you asked … Should have handled it way different that tha. I was raised better than that, so I would like to apologize to you publicly for that language that I used and calling you out of your name and just being disrespectful.”Snoop went on to say that he was just sticking up for a friend who “wasn’t here to defend himself.” He also invited King to meet with him privately so that they may officially squash any grievances.“A lot of people look up to me and they love and they appreciate me,” he continued, “so I want to let them know that anytime you mess up, it’s OK to fix it, it’s OK to man up and say that you’re wrong.”Here’s the video of Snoop’s apology. Not to mention that Snoop then guest hosted a daytime talk show the very next day with his frequent collaborator, a WASPy lifestyle guru who served time for insider trading, because the show’s regular host, a famous lesbian who’s friends with an ex-president that’s been accused of war crimes, was unavailable. The only thing this American tale needs is a powerful billionaire and we just so happen to have one of those in the mix too.
